WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) today released the following statement on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp:
“As we mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, we grieve the six million Jews and millions of other innocent victims murdered at the hands of the Nazi regime and those who enabled their hate. We pay respect to the victims and survivors and recognize the incredible bravery of all who fought against unspeakable evils and horrific injustice. As antisemitism rises and survivors of the Holocaust’s terror become fewer, we must honor their legacy by keeping our vow to never forget, and by rejecting hate, always.”
