Senator Welch Joins EPA Administrator Michael Regan and Vermont Congressional Delegation to Highlight New IRA-Funded ‘Solar for All’ Grant Program

Jun 28, 2023

WATERBURY, VT – Today, Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT) joined United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Representative Becca Balint (VT-AL) in Waterbury for an event highlighting the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to ensuring everyone is included in the green energy transition.  The event was hosted at SunCommon, a Vermont-based Certified BCorp and the state’s largest solar energy installer.

“Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, families, small businesses and farms here in Vermont are going to be able to transition to clean energy sources and lower their energy bills. When crafting this bill, Congress made it clear that our transition to clean energy couldn’t leave folks behind, and EPA Administrator Regan and the Biden-Harris Administration are delivering by ensuring everyone—regardless of how much money they make—can access clean energy and be part of the next generation of energy efficiency.”

The EPA Administrator and the state’s Congressional Delegation discussed how the landmark Inflation Reduction Act would deliver resources and tools to help families and small businesses transition to clean energy through the bill’s Solar for All Program and announced a $7 billion grant competition funded by the program. States, territories, tribal governments, municipalities, and eligible nonprofits will be able to use Solar for All grants to provide technical assistance and financing for solar energy in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
