EAST BURKE, VT – Saturday, Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Chair of the Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Rural Development, attended the Kingdom Trails’ 30th Anniversary and Landowner Appreciation Celebration and recognized the decades of dedication and contributions of local volunteers and landowners to outdoor recreation in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Senator Welch also emphasized the urgent need to rebuild Vermont’s outdoor recreation spaces and local infrastructure impacted by recent flooding.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of every local landowner that helps make Kingdom Trails the perfect place for folks to relax and recharge. These trails contribute to Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy and make the NEK a great place to live, work, and explore,” said Senator Welch. “It’s my goal to ensure that our trails and local infrastructure receive the investments needed to provide the economic, public health, and conservation benefits that our communities depend on.”
The event was hosted by the Kingdom Trail Association.
